Common Questions

What hours and days are you available?

I am in my Cocoa office on Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, some Fridays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Do you take insurance?

I will be happy to see you for a reasonable fee. I do take insurance and I am a provider for the following companies:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Cigna
  • Magellan
  • Health First
  • United Health Care
  • Beacon Health
  • Tricare
  • Aetna

I am an EAP provider for many companies.

If I have insurance, how much do I pay?

You pay a copayment after you have satisfied your deductible, if you have one. You can find out what your copayment and deductible is by calling the number on the back of your insurance card or visit your insurance website.

I have a high deductible insurance plan or HSA, what good is it?

Some companies put money into a Health Savings Account (HSA) for you. Some companies give their employees a debit card to draw from that account and some pay directly to me from that account. If you do not have money in an HSA, you are charged at the rate your insurance company contracts with me for. This rate is a reduction from my standard fee. That is the advantage to even a high deductible plan.

Do you take Medicare or Medicaid?

By law, Licensed Mental Health Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists are not providers for Medicare. However, if you have a Medicare supplement through AARP's United Health Care plans, I am a provider. I am not a Medicaid provider.

Can you prescribe medicine?

Only physicians can prescribe medicine. Psychiatrists are physicians who specialize in the treatment of psychiatric disorders. So, they prescribe medicine. If you need a referral for medicine, I will be happy to make a recommendation.
